Why Us?
History
Our Own English High School established in 1992, is a GEMS school. GEMS, Global Education Management Systems, is dedicated to bringing a unique approach to education, an approach propelled by over 60 years of experience and a far reaching global outlook. The GEMS unique approach to education includes four core values that are woven into the curriculum of every GEMS school.
Culture
The School is uniquely placed to serve the needs of a multicultural society since it is affiliated to two distinctly different, international Boards of Study … pupils from completely different backgrounds learn and play together; and in so doing, learn how to function in a cosmopolitan environment which calls for understanding and tolerance of differences, all the while realizing the essential universality of all humans.
Curriculum
In KG the students follow the GEMS Kindergarten curriculum. From Grades 1 to 4 students of all nationalities follow the CBSE curriculum. However, students of Indian origin continue with the CBSE Curriculum from Grade 5 upwards while other nationalities are offered the British Curriculum (Cambridge international Curriculum). Indian students may also opt for Cambridge international Curriculum.
The School teaches English as a first Language in the CBSE curriculum while in the Cambridge section English is offered as a Second Language, as most of the students are of Arab, Pakistani, Bangladeshi nationalities or non-native speakers of English. The teaching of Islamiyat and the Holy Quran to Muslim pupils and Moral Instruction to pupils following other faiths is a part of the school curriculum. (Arab pupils are taught in Arabic).
